Jude Law is in talks to join Robert Downey Jr. in Sherlock Holmes. According to Variety, Law is expected to close a deal shortly to play Watson, the super-sleuth’s sidekick.

The film will incorporate the classic tales written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, as well as the comic book Sherlock Holmes. The article also says the studio is still casting some of the principal roles, including the villain, Blackwood.

I like this casting and certianly it is nice to bring someone “English” to the film. Jude Law is a good actor and one I could see playing a sidekick like Watson. I have been thinking a lot about this movie and I could totally see this movie being a lot like Burn Notice in the sense of you have Sherlock narrating his deduction while action is happening on screen. I also thought about the “martial arts” knowledge he will have and the way I envision it isn’t like he is going to be a ninja or Bourne but I see more of like defense trained.
