Rumor: Damon to play Elliot Ness in Fincher’s Torso?

David Fincher’s next project is Torso, with Cleveland as the backdrop, an adaptation of the Michael Bendis/Marc Andreyko graphic novel. In a story from Cleveland.com, Matt Damon is supposedly going to be playing Elliot Ness in the film.

The graphic novel revolves around Cleveland’s notorious Kingsbury Run murders, also dubbed the Torso Murders. Matt Damon will play Ness, who was the city’s safety director at the time. This all occurred between 1934 and 1938, after Ness’ involvement with Al Capone.

This is certainly an interesting choice but a welcomed one in my opinion but in no way is this confirmed so it is safe to call it a rumor at this point! I like Matt Damon a lot and can see him playing a good Ness, especially since he favors Kevin Costner’s Ness portrayal in the Untouchables.
